Xo clss roll call

One of the amazing things going on during our sessions of Xo activities at Eshibinga Primary school is the roll call.
Every morning, the computer class monitor takes a roll call. He has a register. The register contains names of all members of the Computer club Members. The register is a simple exercise book. The class monitor calls out names and each student who is present stands up when his or her name is called.
The class monitor told me, he has been doing this every time we have a xo computer sessions. He told me, if any of the students miss for three consecutive sessions without any proper explanation, his or her name is struck out of the register.
I asked him why he does this with such zeal. His answer was
“ Our club is only for the serious, committed and loyal members. We cannot accept lay abouts and absentees to be our members.”
I got his point. We have over 500 kids in this school who have applied to learn computers. We have only 4 xo laptop computers. Our computer club has a membership of 25 Pupils. So it makes sense. A strict register must be kept, to weed out anyone who thinks that the XO activities are just for fun. This is serious stuff.
Some of the pupils here have taken the computer class at the only tool that will fish them out of the waters of poverty that sorrounds them.
